The Flowers Of Romance

Welcome to my Sid Vicious (and Sex Pistols) page.
Named The Flowers of Romance (a name suggested by John Lydon (Rotten) and later used in one of P.I.L's albums and songs) after Sids own band.
Its here to clear up the truth about him (something that is very hard to find), and also sort out legend from reality a bit too. I hope I've got it right.
I also hope its some use for you and you learn what you want to about them all.
Please sign the Guestbook, I'm always curious as to the visitors this site gets and like to hear feedback!

Eileen Polk has sent me a COMPLETELY new picture of Sid (not to be taken) note the completely different padlock in it. She also says very kindly that she may write some pieces on him after the new BBC production about him has been shown.

New Question - Is Hymie's Him about Sid Vicious ? Hymie's Him is a song By P.I.L on the album, Flowers of Romance. A rumour says Sid use to go under the name Hymie.
As to the last question about his padlock, I've been told that Gary Oldman still has it since the filming of Sid & Nancy. Apparently Sids mum was so impressed she asked him to keep it. The alternative is that when her house was broken in to about 6 mouths after her death it was stolen with the rest of Sids stuff.

12.05.2005
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SID!

04.01.2005
Wow, thats the first time I've written 2005. Well not now obviously. Anyway, Hope you had a nice christmas, mine was ok, I wasn't very well on the day (vomiting in a bucket all the way up the A1 to the Vapors) but it was still pretty good. I spent New Years with the family & a dog who was staying with them, called Flash. By the end of the evening I had done the unstoppable and sung "FLASH. Ahh Ahhhhhh." but I don't think it got it. Happy New Year everyone :>

17.12.2004

Wow, almost christmas. Super. I have added a new page to Gallery, am really impressed with whos been signing my guestbook and recently FINALLY aquired a fully signed Never Mind The Bollocks, including Sids of course. Its fantastic. Lol I also out fanshipped myself by accidently winning "World Wide What" a quiz on radio 2 after midnight (DJ Janice Long who rocks). Your suppose to hear the clues and then guess what the object or thing is they add up to. I missed the first one and only texted in after the 4th as a joke. The answer was The Sex Pistols and I have won the coolest radio 2 bag, I'm so proud, now I can show off my love for radio 2 everywhere!
This year has been shite and its been brilliant. Most of all its been a bit odd.

Happy Christmas Everyone!!!!

Hii, I'm back from leeds, it was amazing, going every year for the rest of my life, met some cool people, Ana and Laura, Peter Sutcliffe, I'm sorry I missed you at the Donnas, but your name is fantastic, Dressboy and Dom, Sunny, Gipsy boy, Sweetie guy, Thingy who accused me of stealing his biscuits in the middle of the night, and who inadvently gave us (ana, laura, me) a name for our band, the biscuit thieves (look out for the forth coming tracks - Ghost of the plastic round table (an ode to outdoor furniture) and beastiality and noodles (about a man who eats his own pet duck) I'm being kicked off now but I will return,

P.S
The Darkness blew my socks off!

09.08.2004

Hi, I've decided to start recommending obscure music tracks.
The first one is by a band who only got one touch of fame and were quickly forgotten but who could be traced as inventors of grunge. The song that people know of theirs is called "Pretty in pink" Its good, but not my favorite.
Possibly the most under-rated song in the world -
Ladys and gentlemen I give you,
"Torch" by The Phsyedelic Furs.
Great lyrics and atmostphere, listen out especially for :
"Burned down days like cigarettes" in the first verse.
The most sucinct summary of how time works. Days burn down into an ash of rememberance, leaving you to look into your now empty packet of 20 and say where did they all go...
and thats why I love this song.

20.07.2004

Hi people, I'm loving the feedback please keep it up, it helps me out and now I know I'm not just talking to myself!
I love Rebel Rebel By Bowie, Its fresh, vibrant and the words are fantastic (Calamitys child!)

Anyway, on a personal note I have had the most surreal week.
Bowie had a heart operation from out of the blue, totp2 was CANCELLED (its like they dont want the younger generation to hear what music is suppose to be like, you know if I wrote my life story it would be called "TOTP2 saved my life", BBC gimps.) Simon and Garfunkel reformed, ditto the New York Dolls with Kane dying what seemed like less then a week later. I went down the pub with some mates + some mates of theirs who I realised I knew and had gone to school with. Went to a festival on the sunday after and my mate lurched over drunk to where I was drunk and told me they crashed on the way home and one had died. I can't say I knew them well enough to be devastated but I remember them being nice guys. Its crazy though it really is, it makes you realise how quickly death can happen, wakes you up momentarily from your apathetic stupor, only to sink further still a couple of moments later.
Anyway!

The other thing that happened this week was my baby dog Foxy died, she was old and dying and had to be put down out of kindness and I just like to remember her up here.
She was the best friend anyone could ever hope to have, she would guard me constantly from sadness and lonelyness whilst only wanting love in return. She was a rescue dog and I will always feel guilty that somewhere out there, is someone who didn't see how beautiful she was inside however scruffy she might have looked somedays. I will always miss her and love her. I don't think I'll ever get another dog because It would always fall short in my eyes next to her memory.

16.07.2004

Foxy

As if to close the book on the whole sorry week, I turned the radio on last night and they played Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung, the most random track & band in the world and crap though it may be to others more selective than I, a track I love because it makes me feel safe and secure, so thanks radio 2, there is life after midnight people.

Hiya, I've taken off Good Charlotte, because some of you dont like it. I hate that kind of pop punk too but they were up because I thought the lyrics were amusing, when my nets all fixed up I'll be able to put some good music up here.

My bands finally up and running, we've got a place to practice with a PA system and everything, its going to be so much fun, Have a nice weekend,
Charlotte Sometimes

01.06.2004

I changed my name the other day, I'm now legally called Charlotte Sometimes. How fantastic is that. Of course I'll probably never get another job, but I don't intend to anyway.

Well I'm online at the library.
Happy Birthday Sid for yesturday!
I had a great time for you at a Supergrass concert, they were excellent and so was the support the 22-20s. I'm sure you would have enjoyed it.
The new guestbooks up and running please feel free to leave messages.
Bad news people, My computer with my huge collections of all things sex pistols has broken, a friend and I are doing our best to retrieve everything from the hard drive but there are huge problems and the only software which might work is very expensive. Which means that on top of my music all my pictures of Sid are gone, some of them very rare one offs I found on places like ebay. I have to say I'm gutted terribly I spent a long time buliding up that collection so I could create a site with everything on it for everyone to use and take pictures from (unlike certain other sites). Use what you can, I'm not giving up on this site and if you find rare pictures Id be very happy if you can keep them and send them to me when I'm back online sometime,
Thanks,
Charlotte
P.s
I will be a leeds festival so email me if you want to meet up there, just to warn you, hotmails irratic junk screener will probably delete it so you can also leave a message in the guestbook.

Well again I'm moving, all over the place, still a place for the homeless but its more private and all my own, and next door to my best mate by happy happy luck. Speak to you guys soon I hope and buy the NEW book by Alan Parker

28.11.2003

Recently a friend said he'd been told the Sex Pistols were "made". I shook my head and sighed sadly, then proceeded to tell him in the smallest of small details why and how the Sex Pistols came into being. Realising what he had let himself in for he quickly drowned in submission and tryed to change the subject.

Whatever you've heard, the Sex Pistols were not made, they came into being like most good bands, through mates.
All this Mclarenite shit is just that, he's famed for it.
As I'm sure you die hard fans know.
The Sex Pistols started life as a band called "The Swankers" with Steve, Paul, and Wally Nightingale before they knew Mclaren.
They started going in his shop and eventually asked him whether he knew any bassists, well it just so happened his new saturday boy, Glen had told him a few days ago he played the bass. So they met up, Mclaren was appointed manager and Steve and he decided Wally must go. So he went. Now they needed a new singer, well the band had noticed one oddly dressed boy wandering in to look at Mclarens clothes sometimes, so they asked he to audition for them, he did and became the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, eventually renamed after a design on a t-shirt.
I'll point out now as well that they were not puppets for the store. Johnny had worn safetly pins and ripped clothes before he met westwood (who doesn't deserve a capital letter), Sid deigned his reign in jeans and a leather jacket after his Idol, Dee Dee Ramone.
Steve & Paul were followers of fashion and wore what they felt was trendy at the time (the perm of DOOOOM!)
Glen much the same.

And Sid was not "made" either or just jumped ito the band so easy as assumed, When Glen left they auditioned for a new bassist. Steve New was bass briefly untill Johnny decided he was alone in the band & insisted on Sid. Not the last of Steve New though, Steve popped up again in Glens new band "The Rich Kids" and that one night special, that was "The Vicious White Kids.
Well I hope we've cleared that up.
My news, I'm once again moving (my poor back) but finally Its private. Its still a organisation for the homeless, and so I go from one homeless hostel to another less christian insane one, whoo hoo, wish me luck not breaking anything!
Also its christmas so just in case, I'll wish you farewell and much love.

Nancy RIP.
Well, briefly back again, what do you lot make of the Darkness. I'm impressed and I rarely am, I get the feeling they've come to save us along with the White Stripes from this souless shit currently being spewed out of the music industry, I figure if historys going round again then the White Stripes would be The Kinks (listen to apple blossom by them and then Dead End Street by kinks) & The Darkness would have to be, Queen/Led Zep only slightly less egotistical.

18.6.2003

Briefly home missing updating my site can't say much as have little time, Life is great away from home living next to a cinema macdonalds and tescos.:>

Has anyone besides me noticed that one of the people in Busted has a copy of a rabbit padlock round his neck , and in the video for year 3000 theirs several people wearing them. Don't know what to make of it. But it feels slightly crappy, because I doubt all those people even know who Sid Vicious is.

My computer has been slowly dying on me for some time now
and it looks like its gunna have to be wiped :( which means all my stuff waiting to go up will die as will all my rare Pistols stuff as well. I'm working on a way to save it but there is quite alot of it, so this is just a warning that if nothing new happens for a very long time that I'm sorry and I'll be sitting here trying to think of new ways to make it better.

" Punk -
Movement of the disaffected youth of the late 1970's, manifesting itself in fashions and music designed to shock or intimidate. Punk rock began in the UK and stressed aggressive performance within a three minute, three cord format, as exemplifed by the Sex Pistols.
Ostensibly a rejection of everything that had gone before, punk rock drew on more than a decade of US garage bands; reggae and rockabilty were also important influences on, for example, the Clash, the most succussful British punk band. The punk movement also brought more woman into the rock. (for example, the Slits 1977-82) and was antiracist and anti-establishment. The musical limitations imposed by its insistance on amateurism and provoking outrage contributed to the decline in punk rock, but aspects still live on in -> hardcore punk and -> grunge "
